Springfield's Historic Downtown Airport

  • Aired: 12/08/2009
  • 26:38
  • Rating: NR
The Springfield Downtown Airport was one of the first airports in our Ozarks Region. A hub of activity, the airstrip hosted a variety of well-known aviators and dignitaries, also serving as a critical link to first-rate medical care during WWII, and as an important transportation center for the growing city. Bill Johnmeyer presents an overview of Springfield's early and rich aviation history.
