In 1933, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt proposed an innovative solution to help end the rampant unemployment and economic crisis that was gripping the country. Roosevelt presented an innovative idea to recruit thousands of unemployed young men and enroll them in an expansive and well-organized program that became known as the Civilian Conservation Corps.
