One of the great environmental, recreational and economic success stories of the Ozarks is the Mark Twain National Forest. Extending across central and southern Missouri, the 1.5 million acre forest features a wide variety of natural resources, recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. The forest boundaries include seven Congressionally-designated wilderness areas.
