Route 66. "The Mother Road". Perhaps no other stretch of highway rivals the sense of romance, adventure or intrigue than this remarkable roadway. Commissioned a national highway in 1926, Route 66 made its way from Chicago across eight states to the Pacific Ocean. "The Main Street of America" weaved its way through the Ozarks, and introduced the Ozarks to travelers from across the country.
