Moonshine or "white lightning" as it is commonly called, is a broad name given to illegally distilled alcohol. Moonshiners took pride in their craft but produced their brew without the benefit of a license or payment of taxes on their product. This practice was naturally frowned upon by certain federal agents known as "revenuers."
