Karst features such as caves, sinks, and natural bridges are common throughout the Ozarks. Over millions of years, cracks and crevices in this bedrock have allowed water to dissolve these foundations and create these karst features. As a result of this natural erosion, the Ozarks has literally thousands of caves. These caves are under threat from groundwater pollution.
