Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipthere's two different types of red pandas.
There's a Himalayan and the Chinese.
And so we have the Himalayan.
And so they're from the countries where the Himalayan mountains are.
And then the Chinese obviously are just from China.
I'm Jessica one of these you keepers here at Lake Superior Zoo, and we are going to see our red pandas today.
we have Zoozee and Wiley.
Zoozee has been here a couple of years.
And Wiley we just got last year.
They're doing good.
They're now that it's breeding season, they're getting along better than they were.
They kind of so red pandas are solitary in the wild.
And so they spend a lot of their time just being by themselves.
So they kind of like separate themselves and just kind of do their own thing most of the time.
But they get along just fine.
They, they do pretty good.
They're kind of sensitive to noises and so like or vibrations, we're kind of thinking that they're sensitive to stuff like that.
So sometimes they get a little more nervous if there's a lot of like loud noises or weird vibrations going on and stuff.
But yeah, generally they just like hang out in their favorite spots and kind of watch people pass by their main primary diet is bamboo.
And that's what they generally live off of.
They'll eat other little like fruits and nuts and every once in a while opportunistically, like prey items like small mammals or birds and, like insects They're, they're pretty chill.
They don't really have like a whole lot of the they don't interact with a lot.
So and with people even, they just kind of like, mind their own business and they their biggest defense.
